Settling in @ Makati for a Night

normal

The goal was a staycation, to unwind for a night. I know it’s too early to sidetrack, but isn’t it just amazing that our generation creates the weirdest of words? Staycation.

Anyway, we wanted to relax somewhere nice and cozy without going too far. We wanted to stay within Makati and preferrably, somewhere familiar.

I’ve always wanted to try Picasso: Boutique Serviced Residences. It’s an artsy-themed hotel, not your contemporary find within the metro. What it lacks in a swimming pool, it makes up for with an art gallery.

The whole hotel is styled artistically and I must say, it’s indeed a beauty.DSC_2873

We booked through their website and opted to go with the Malaga Studio. Booking exclusive of taxes (without breakfast) was at the rate of PHP 4,800.00. On top of City Sales Tax and VAT, it was a total of PHP 6,000.00. I expected the City Sales Tax but was quite surprised with the latter, but I understand how the trade works so I just paid the amount due.

I don’t know what happened or why they did it, but we got a free room upgrade to their mini suite- the Andalusia Studio! We were puzzled at first, but all of that was replaced by giddiness when we got to our room. It was so spacious, pretty and undeniably cozy.

Here’s a run down of my observations:

The yay(s):
– Mood lights, mood lights everywhere! (This is already pretty common but I’ve always adored places with beautiful lighting)
– A lot of storage space in cabinets (I hate to see clutter in the area)
– A kitchenette (with microwave, stove, water heater and a ref. Utensils and other cookware can be requested from housekeeping. Yes, you can bring food and cook.)
– A mini dining / living area (with tables, chairs, a couch and a rug)
– Spacious bathroom and a bathtub
– Soft and comfortable bed / pillows
– Very accommodating and friendly staff
– The overall design of the place. haven’t I stressed on this enough?

The could’ve been better(s):
– If only the TV could play movies through USB. TV media player is only enabled for images and music.

How to get there:

We just walked from Glorietta. It’s very near. Just pass by Ayala Triangle and cross the street until your reach China bank. We just paced a couple of blocks and we’re already there. 🙂 If you’re not fond of walking, riding a cab would be ideal.
